Having networking subject is interesting because you can connect this into your lifestyle activities. Understanding networking can build also a business which can make us a successful person.
I`ve learned in networking on how to share data or informations from other computer or servers and computer networks support applications such acces to the World Wide Web(WWW).
It has 3 types of networks LAN,WAN and MAN.LAN is Local Area Networks connects building to building that has a limited bounded or limited geographic location and WAN is Wide Area Networks that connects international distance, while MAN is Metropolitan Area Network.
There are 7 layers of Open System Interconnect(OSI):
Application - can see on your desktop, ex. microsoft offices these are applications.
Presentation - End user or application layer such as .doc for saving documents, .jpg for images everything that you save that represent or interpret.
Session - it manages and terminate sessions between two communications.
Transport - it break up the datas for sending host and resemble it in the receiver.
Network - IP addressing, packet forwarding and filtering.
Data-Link -MAC address and perform access method.
Physical - it refers a madia, cables all wirings(coaxial,straight,..)
Internet is a collection of networks.In using Internet it has a network structure and hierarchy these are, cone layer,distribution and acces.
ISP- these are netowork help us to connects anywhere, ex. globe ,bayantel,pldt,..
I`ve learned also the different kinds of topologies these are bus,ring,star,tree and mesh.Topology as a network`s shape or structure and this shapes does no necessarily correspond to the actual physical layout of the devices on the network.
For example, the computers on a home LAN may be arranged in a circle in a family room, but it would be higly unlikely to find a ring topology there.
First is Bus Topology, bus networks use a common backbone to connect all devices.A single cable, the backbone functions as a shared communication medium that devices attach or tap into an interface connector and actually accepts and process the message.
Ring Topology in netowrk every device has exactly two neighbos for communication purpose. It travels same direction either clockwise or counter clockwise.
Star Topology has many home networks, a star network features a connection point called hub node that may be a network hub, switch or router.
Tree Topology it is a simplest form,tree topologies integrate multiple star topologies together into a bus.
The last is Mesh Topology involves the concepts of routes.mesh network can take any of several possible paths from source to destination.
With this topologies we can probably build a home or small business computer network without understanding the difference between a bus design and star design,but becoming familiar with the standard topologies gives us a better understanding of important networking concepts like hubs,broadcast, and routes.
Hubs is one connection domains,broadcast is to all host and while routes do not forward broadcast frames.
